Q. What hardware/OS configuration is appropriate to run these software solutions?

A.  The optimal system requirements are as follows:-

  • IntelTM Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHz Processor, or higher.

  • WindowsTM XP/2000, Professional Edition.

  • IntelTM Original Motherboard.

  • 1024 MB DDR RAM, 400 MHz.

  • PCI Express Graphics Card, with 256 MB DDR RAM
    (OpenGL Support required).

  • XGA Colour Monitor with a resolution of 1600x1200 pixels,
    non-interlaced.

  • 1024 MB free space on hard-disk required for installation.

  • CD-ROM Drive.

A less-than-optimal system, however, should still have the following:-

  • IntelTM Pentium 4 - 2.4 GHz Processor, or higher.

  • WindowsTM XP/2000, Professional Edition .

  • 1024 MB RAM.

  • Graphics Card, as suitable.

  • SVGA Colour Monitor with a resolution of 1024x768 pixels,
    non-interlaced.

  • 1024 MB free space on hard-disk required for installation.

  • CD-ROM Drive.



Q. Which Graphics Card is best suited to run these applications?

A.  The basic requirement of a good graphics card is OpenGL support.

An excellent card, from the standpoint of price and performance, is the following:-

  • XFX GeForce NVIDIA 6600 - PCI Express x16 Graphics Card,
    256 MB DDR RAM, Dual Head (VGA + DVI).

In general, however, there are various graphics cards available, and their capabilities are evolving continuously.
